Dr Hayman is Dr Pope’s main Anaesthetist at the Mater Private Hospital and has helped set-up the exacting standards required to run a top class service. He is particularly interested in monitoring nerves during spine procedures utilizing techniques that either stimulates the nerves to make sure they are working well, or monitoring their responses if touched or encroached on by the surgical techniques. This equates to added safety for preservation of nerve function and a safer outcome for the patients as well as optimizing surgical techniques and positioning of instrumentation.
Please note, Dr Hayman in his pursuit for clinical and academic excellence is embarking on a 2 year Sabbatical in Boston where he will be researching Anaesthetic techniques, and Neurosurgical and Spine issues pertinent to Minimally Invasive Procedures.
He will be intermittently returning to Sydney to offer his services during his Sabbatical tenure and will return to a fuller capacity in 2012.
